The Hole is pleased to present a mini solo show of three paintings and a video by Christina Allan in the project room of our Los Angeles gallery.
Mysterious and sinister, Christina Allan’s work delves into the complexities of the human experience by depicting otherworldly creatures from distant dimensions. Dark and slick, her canvases reveal an intricate dance between the cosmic and the personal, while her narratives unfold in a dreamlike realm populated by glowing-eyed guard dogs and glossy black skulls.
Executed in airbrush and regular brush, Allan's paintings begin with the conceptualization and design of 3D renderings and models. These digital creations serve as the foundation for her imaginative world of fantastical beings, providing a virtual space where she explores their forms, movements and interactions. Alongside the three paintings, a new video brings Allan's creatures to life in an ambiguous landscape reminiscent of a psychedelic journey, simulated video game or a portal into another world.
Christina Allan (b.1995) lives and works in Toronto, Canada. She received her BFA from Parsons and has since exhibited in London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Miami, New York City, and Paris. Recent solo exhibitions include “COSMIC ZOO" at OMNI Gallery in London, “DEAD SEA" at Alchemy Gallery in New York City, “HOT WHEELS" at Lorin Gallery in Los Angeles, and “PSYCHOPOMP" in Madrid.
