Pablo Tomek: Medley

The Hole is proud to present the first New York solo by Parisian artist Pablo Tomek. In an assortment of new painting and sculpture, Pablo presents himself to New Yorkers who may have only seen his work circulated on screens. For an artist who embraces process and surface, this in-person perusal is important: the paintings are built through many layers of addition and subtraction, industrial sponges and high-pressure water blasts. Sculptures mimicking the mudding of new sheetrock double as gallery seating and emphasize the in-progress and under-contraction nature of his ever-evolving creativity and pursuit of new processes.

Pablo Tomek (b. 1988, Paris) originates from a graffiti background, an influence that can still be seen in his paintings. Tomek has had multiple shows with his galleries Galerie Christophe Gaillard (Paris, Brussels, Normandy) and Ruttkowski 68 (Brussels, Cologne, New York), as well as Galerie Fagerstedt in Stockholm (2022), at Palais de Tokyo in Paris (2021), and Outpost Gallery in Copenhagen (2021). Most recently, Tomek's work was included in the 2025 exhibition Bold & Gritty at the Stedelijik Museum, Amterdam. His works are held in public collections such as MIMA Museum in Brussels, the Gothenburg Museum of Art in Sweden, and Société Générale Bank in Paris, and can also be found in private collections in major cities including Brussels, Cologne, Berlin, Seoul, Seattle, and New York. Tomek has collaborated with figures across industries, including a line with Off White in 2017. He lives and works in Paris.
