The Hole is proud to announce the most exciting side exhibition and event program during the Basel Art Fair in Miami Beach, FRESH BASEL. Taking place at the historic 1920’s waterfront Villa Vecchia estate, FRESH BASEL will feature an extensive contemporary art installation, live art making, performances and dinners in what will be the largest and most exclusive contemporary art exhibition to be presented in a luxurious private home of this kind.
The Hole brings Holton Rower to make a live Pour Painting in the ballroom, Scott Reeder to make his signature spaghetti paintings for the main foyer, painter Jesse Edwards to be an on site plein-air painter capturing the different vistas of the historic building, while Matthew Stone presents new laser-engraved paintings and throws a Voguer’s Ball during which he creates new works. Lola Schnabel and John Copeland (presented by V1 Gallery) will present action-based figurative painting in the main salon, while Evan Gruzis’ marble mannequin sculpture suns herself by the pool.
As guests arrive at the Villa and disembark from luxurious watercraft provided by the villa owner, they are greeted by mural walls evoking New York City-style wallscapes by Mr. André, Jesse Geller and special guests being painted during the opening days of the fair in a live project organized by Collective Hardware. Additional works installed in the villa and on the grounds include pieces by André Saraiva, Sayre Gomez, Eric Yahnker, and many more.
The dark wood paneled library of the villa will house a selection of artworks from the Playmates as Fine Art series of the famed Playboy art collection, which are to be highlighted in an editorial feature in an upcoming issue of the magazine that includes Richard Prince, Tracey Emin, Cindy Sherman, Ryan McGinness, Jill Magid, Wes Lang and Will Cotton. While admiring the works, guests will enjoy signature Belvedere© cocktails prepared in the adjacent library bar.
