This year at UNTITLED Miami Beach we offer a solo booth of new paintings and sculpture by Jonathan Chapline.
With five new paintings and three new sculptures, Chapline elaborates his 2D/3D world of color and shadow. In our greyed-out booth these extra cool-spectrum colors pop with almost screen-like brightness.
These five acrylic and flashe on panel paintings focus on where interior and exterior meet, allowing interesting architecture and interior design from Eames chairs to interior courtyards. On a large central artist-designed pedestal sit three new figurative sculptures—3D printed UV resin, foam and automotive paint—though they are more sculptures of figurative sculptures; in cut-out slabs that reference Matisse these sculptures also appear in painted form in the wall works.
